Food safety is not only on a provincial and federal focus, it is also a global focus. The Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) is a coalition that has developed food safety benchmarking requirements. In simple terms, GFSI has developed its own set of rules and regulations for food safety and works together with various different certification programs to enforce those rules and regulations.
Meadow Creek selected the SQF (Safe Quality Food) certification program. SQF is a global food safety and quality program that is utilized by many retailers and food service providers as a minimum food safety standard. Once SQF is in place at a facility, it providers consumers the assurance that food safety measures are in place and meet the highest food safety standards at a global level.
