What is Meadow Creek Sausage all about?

The inside scoop

Meadow Creek Sausage & Meat Ltd. is a family based business. The idea of our company started with Peter back in the late 70's when he started his journey in the meat industry as a butcher. Living in the Netherlands allowed Peter to travel all of Europe and learn the butcher trade from many different mentors. He learned the trick of the trade and picked up local recipes. He met his wife Sylvia in the early 80's and together dreamed of moving to Canada. They realized their dream in 1998 when they moved to Canada along with their daughter Chantal. 


Chantal went to university and graduated with a marketing degree in 2008. Peter and Sylvia had already started their own small butchershop at their ranch but Chantal had an idea. She joined forces with her parents and together they grew the company. Sticking to their guns and only producing sausage that is healthy, no chemicals, no added hormones, no antibiotics, and above all, affordable prices, Meadow Creek Sausage grew fast and had to expand their operations in Claresholm ten-fold in 2013. 


In 2017, Peter passed his hat onto Chantal and semi-retired, although he does sneak in to check up on things :-) Still seeing tremendous demand of sausage, getting daily calls and emails about where to find our sausages in Calgary, we are honoured to work with Sobeys  and Safeway starting August 2018!!


Chantal has focused a lot of product development, specifically the health benefits of our products and telling our customers about them. All of our products are made using meat that has never been exposed to added hormones or antibiotics. Our facility is 100% chemical free and no allergens. Animal welfare is a very important aspect of our business, animals must be treated with respect.  


All of our sausages and meats do not contain:


- Added hormones

- Antibiotics

- Gluten or any other common allergens identified by the CFIA

- Preservatives

- Additives

- Nitrates

- MGS

- Etc.


The new way of selling sausages and meats is in a vacuum freezer bag. Sausages are pack in 3’s and steaks are packed in singles and are flash frozen. This has less impact on the environment as less packaging waste is created. By only what you need, no Styrofoam waste, soaker pads, etc. We also use 25% less electricity than the average butchershop which is one of the many factors that translate into our affordable prices.
